What happened to the Blog?! :)

Sadly, I haven't updated this Blog as much as I would have liked to. Since I last posted news on here issues FOUR and FIVE of cereal:geek have been published; so the magazine is still going strong.

With Twitter, Facebook, and the cereal:geek mailing list becoming regular places to distribute information, this Blog has become somewhat defunct. So unsurprisingly I doubt I will ever post here again.

This weekend (Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th) is the London Film & Comic Con at Earl's Court 2 and cereal:geek magazine will have a table at the event! :)

Representing all that is eighties we will (of course) be selling issues one, two and three of cereal:geek, and there will be quite a few preview pages from issue FOUR on display (the issue I currently cannot afford to publish). I will also be selling a chunk of my He-Man and She-Ra animation art collection, and a small collection of comic books relating to some animated series of the eighties. And if you're really nice to me I may even draw you a picture...granted it will be a bad picture, but it'll be a picture nonetheless! :)

As I sit here and type, this issue FOUR of cereal:geek is complete and will soon be on its way to the printers - Here is the cover for your enjoyment, illustrated to perfection by Dan Schoening! :)

The magazine will go on sale in early JULY - Be ready because issue four is the HORROR issue...don't say I didn't warn you...

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the cover to issue three of cereal:geek! :)

Expertly illustrated by Pedro Figue, I wanted to keep the cover simple, yet striking, AND more importantly different from the previous two covers - This issue's theme discusses how certain shows evolved over the course of a series, so I thought it would be appropriate to have the "evolved" Ninja Turtles amongst the humans - And yes, it's slightly self-indulgent, as the people on the cover are people I know...

As you know my goal was to publish cereal:geek issues three and four before the end of the year, but with the current financial situation of the magazine this is an impossibility. Instead of struggling to publish issue three now I've decided that in-between now and January I will advertise the magazine like crazy and hopefully when issue three comes out everyone will be ready...

As I've previously mentioned I am currently working on issue three of cereal:geek, and still plan on having it completed before the end of this month...

BUT today is a special day because I've started work on issue FOUR! :)

My plan was always to produce four issues in one year (it is a quarterly publication after all!), and with work commencing NOW I hope to have issue four ready for sale before the end of this year...It sounds crazy, but I honestly think it is possible, especially with all the talented contributors! :)

The ONLY thing that can prevent publication of issue four is the old enemy: lack of money...

...and if you're wondering what the heck the above image is all about, I shall endeavor to explain - It's my original layout illustration for the cover of issue two - Originally I had two different poses for Evil-Lyn, but upon showing it to various people this pose proved to be the winner! :)

Graham Crackers Comics sold all their copies in just two days! :)

They WILL be restocking in the next few days. When they do I'll send out an email to all those on the mailing list, and more than likely update this Blog, too. Alternatively you can go to their website and add both issues to your want list...

NEXT WEEK! Issue two will be available to purchase NEXT WEEK! :) - As you can probably tell, production on issue two of cereal:geek has been a little crazy, but it's being printed as I type this, so twenty-something boxes of the magazine should appear on my doorstep next week...

But here's some news that may surprise some of you; I've started work on issue THREE of cereal:geek! :) - As crazy as it sounds I plan on finishing issue three before the end of October - Is it possible to turn a magazine around in two months? - We shall see...

...and yes, once issue three is printed I will probably be financially broke - But it's been a LOT of fun making this magazine! :)

Here is the cover to issue two of cereal:geek unveiled for the first time on the Internet! :)

Emiliano Santalucia illustrated Evil-Lyn, Makoto Ono illustrated Optimus Prime, Wen-Xi Chen painted the piece, and Nathan Baertsch worked his usual magic and reworked some of the elements - FOUR artists create one cover - I hope you all like it! :)

Issue two?

There are probably many of you thinking, "Where is issue two?"

The original plan was for the magazine to be released in the second quarter of this year (April to June), but due to some additional articles and illustrations I requested I've had to push the release date back - The NEW plan is that issue two will be on sale within the next three or so weeks - Now that I have this Blog up and running I can keep you all posted! :)

And just for your enjoyment I will reveal the cover to issue two HERE tomorrow - A cover that FOUR artists contributed to no less...

FINALLY I set some time aside to create a Blog dedicated to cereal:geek - My plan is that this Blog will showcase the progress of each issue as it develops; showing the initial ideas, sketches, everything you should expect to see in the final publication, as well as informing you all what is happening in the world of cereal:geek, and which artists are on board, etc.

Just to let you all know that issue one of cereal:geek is still available to purchase either from the official website OR from Graham Crackers Comics, which I strongly recommend if you are a customer from outside of the UK! :)
